Ooba, established in early 2006, is the inaugural online video channel representing Manipur and the North East region of India. The term "Ooba" is derived from the Manipuri language, signifying "to see."
Manipur is a relatively small state located in the northeastern part of India, nestled within the southern section of the Eastern Himalayas. Many aspects of this state and its residents remain largely unfamiliar to the broader Indian populace and the international community.
Ooba aims to unveil the mysteries and splendors of this region and its people through a diverse array of audio-visual content. It is our aspiration that this platform will facilitate the discovery and promotion of the talents inherent in the people of Manipur, as well as the complexities of their society.
Ooba intends to curate and present videos that encompass cultural and educational themes, as well as those that address specific societal stigmas or celebrate various traditions within Manipur. We aspire to serve as a platform for independent creators to showcase their audio-visual projects, particularly those that may struggle to find an outlet for their work.
